For anyone who treats a year like a reference point, not a reunion. The thought 1987 doesn't have to be yours. That's the thing about years — they accumulate meaning that has nothing to do with birthdays or graduations. Something was released that year. Someone was born. A building went up or came down. You keep returning to it the way you return to a specific chord or a corner of a city you've never lived in. The number means something. You're not explaining it. You don't have to.
